RF-Rogaland Research, established in 1973, is an independent research institute that provides clients with cost-effective research and services. RFs main office is in Stavanger, Norway. The institute's main areas of expertise are the petroleum sector, aquatic (marine) environment, social science and business development. The RF group has 243 employees and a turnover of about NOK 200 million. The foundation RF has 205 employees and a turnover of NOK 148 million.

RF`s clients include:

  • national and international oil and service companies,
  • research institutes,
  • land-based industry,
  • public authorities,
  • organisations, and
  • a variety of companies in the service sector.
RF is involved in several multinational projects, including EU programmes.

Our services

Activities within marine environmental sciences are one of three main focus areas in RF and employ 30 persons with the RF-Akvamiljų group. A main focus of the activities is effects of anthropogenic pollution on the marine environment. More specific working areas include:

  • environmental risk assessments
  • environmental monitoring and recipient evaluation
  • offshore decommissioning
  • drill cuttings piles and drilling discharges
  • toxicity, biodegradation and bioaccumulation testing of chemicals and drilling mud
  • laboratory and field research on environmental effects of xenobiotics
  • development and validation of biomarkers as cost efficient monitoring methods
  • freshwater monitoring
  • aquaculture aspects etc.
The RF-Akvamiljų personnel have competence ranging from general biology, marine biology, microbiology, organic chemistry, inorganic chemistry, ecotoxicology, aquaculture, aquatic biology etc.
